Looks like foxtail. Definitely not timothy. It's not good for horses and cattle. The awns are sharp and poke into their gums and such.

its not timothy, dont look like fox tail either unless different variety then we have.

I agree its foxtail I'm about ready to give up selling hay first it got hemp dogbane and now this stuff by the time you fertilize and try to spray for weeds it doesn't leave much of a profit if any just might start brushhogging couple times a year and be done with it

No wonder there's such confusion. I just looked up foxtail. They show lots of different looking plants! Your head is called foxtail in NY.

Don't spray just bale up what grows and sell it in the Winter let the buyer look it over.I have a lady hay customer that #1 thing is no sprays or chemicals been on the hay buys about 50 bales a year lately.I get $50 a bale and that is about $40 a bale profit since I get the land I cut the hay on for free. Not all hay customers have Weed Psychosis.

Looks like millet. Miller is smaller than Foxtail. If you cut before it starts heading out, hay looks great. Afterwards the stalks are thin and hard to dry. Yellows quickly. I hate it in my 3rd cut alfalfa grass mix.

On something like this, just google Timothy plant and foxtail , click on images, and each is easily identified and comparisons can be made.

While Im sure its known as millet in some areas, its not millet ir millet grass. Its a type of foxtail.
