Only Ford missing is my wife's 640. It's got the tedder on it and got left at hay field.

Hi Grandpa

Understand what you are saying, it is interesting here in Australia we don't have many row crop tractors they are a very specialised thing. We never got the American made row crop Fords here just had the UK made Fordson majors etc. So for me I really like the 1000 series Fords and Ford tractors were always blue, so finding all this out has been really interesting. I do agree with you they are very smart looking machines, done a lot of reading on them as I have never seen one.

Matt in oz, I saw a fordson row crop for sale once. Wish I had made that 900 mile road trip. Sharp looking tractor. We love the ford 900-901 tractors. The blue one cut hay yesterday. The one with old paint cut today. The new paint job will get baler duty on Monday. If you ever get to Alabama come drive them all!

Here is my version:

1971 9000, 1959 971D, 1957 960, 1961 961

Just because in the lighting that day it shows the paint shades well, the 971D has incorrect later white, the 960 has correct medium gray, and the 961 has the correct later gray.

Very nice group of tractors. So be honest.... If you see another one in a pasture for sale and it's in fair shape and priced right..... Would you trailer it
home?? Just wondering. Wingnut

I never really cared for those Fords. I always liked the looks of this one best. No it's not mine but I wouldn't mind having one.

nice looking lineup, Kevin. When they were released, I was in HS ag class, and Ford Motor Co provided students with a paperback book that showed all the latest cars, trucks, and tractors, plus other topics.
I always wondered if that series of Fords would have had improved traction with larger diameter back tires, maybe 30 or 34".

2 cubs, M and H in the shed. Along with the Massey loader tractor. That Massey is too new.....it's a '69. Lol.

I better get my eyes checked if your saying the 900 series is better looking than the 9000s!!

Good looking tractor!

I have heard it said the mm 5 star sheet metal was designed by the same engineer and I believe it!!

Those look nice for putting away equipment especially with power steering. Ive been looking for one of those for a while for putting equipment away. The 6610 is too big to turn and the Ford 4410 is a pain because of no power steering in a tight area. Nice you have a fleet of them.

I learned to drive on a 960, still have it.

Dad had 2 for a while, the one I have with Schwartz wide front and a narrow front.

Nice tractors.

Paul

Very nice group of tractors. You have developed qUnite a collection. As a kid I always wanted a Ford 5000. By the time I was in position to buy a new Ford, they had become the 5640. I bought this tractor new in 1992 or 93, and this is the day I traded it in in 2012 with over 8000hours. Fella I went to high school with bought it from the dealer, he always wanted a 4wd loader tractor with a cab, and he says it is a fantastic tractor for him. Nice to know it went to a good home, and it will last him many years, now getting only around 100 hours annually. I would have bought another Ford, but by 2012 they were New Holland tractors, and in my opinion, just Fiat built CaseIh tractors painted blue now..

I always thought the fords and fergies were to light. If you look at the NE plowing tests they had almost as much weight added as the base weight was. For pretty and nice looking I think the Molines with the harvest gold and the kidney bean red was the sharpest. We never had a good Moline dealer around till they were pretty much a by gone thing. IH and DEERE were the predominate dealers. We did have a good Ford and Massey/Case dealers though too. We had a Good allis dealer till the go big or go home thing started in the 70's they closed shortly after it was sold and now is all Agco.

Cat guy, yes the old Fords had pretty much the highest power to weight ratio which made them great for PTO work such as pulling a corn chopper.

Big Tee I would love to have a 9000. Had a toy one when I was a kid. Good looking tractor for sure.

Dont know much about the 100 series Fords, the neighbor has a blue 901 select o speed. All the other 901s I see are red, whats the story with the blue ones?

Whiskey Bent, there are two possible explanations. One is that it is really a 4000, which came from the factory blue, and the other s that it was "modernized" by repainting blue. Ford actually advertised a service offered by the dealers to clean and prep and repaint the old "red belly" in the new colors.

Looking good Kevin! I have my hay in and my neighbor has some more to bale if the weather holds. Worked on roof replacement this weekend. Thought the price wasn’t bad for that Ford .
