Pull Starting - Hand Crank Tractor

Hello,

I am planning to dig deeper into my 37' F20 as to why it's not starting. The spark plugs look good and I don't believe there is a fuel problem. I am thinking it may be the points on the magneto that need to be cleaned. If that is not it and I want to pull start or roll down a hill where do I set the retarded lever? Do I set it where I would when I hand crank the tractor or does it need to be in full advance as if it is running? Never had to pull the F20 without my dad present. We've only pulled the M and it has electric start.

Thanks for the help!

I don't think it will matter where you have the retard lever when you pull start it since it will be spinning over a whole lot fastest then you can by hand
