got this 806 and tryed it out on yard. shifted good and clutch worked good and TA worked. took in field and worked 15 minutes then stopped to check things out. went to let out clutch and it took 2 secondsof hesitation and tractor then took off with a jump. then tryed TA and it wont move with ta back. was discing in 4 low. dump valve and adjustment appears ok. tractor has sat for many many years so was wondering if something like hyd. filter came apart and plugged some port. has an oil leak out of dump valve. trans is full of oil. clutch adjustment is good and dont slip under load. shifts good also. and when slowing engine down to about 1000 rpm the oil light comes on. so whats my big problem ?

I'm no pro, but when the T/A started to have a delay to it on my 806, that's the first thing I did was change the filter. That put things back to proper. Next thing I'll be doing to it this fall is a fluid change & another new filter. Might even get ambitious & tear the engine apart to find that pesky knock around the lower end by, roughly, #2 cylinder. May even change out the rear main seal.

its not the TA that has a delay its all gears low and high, ta wont move. the takes off with a jump.

They are a dry disc clutch mechanically operated. The TA is hydraulically operated. There is a grease fitting up inside the cover for the throw out bearing. We put bulkhead fittings on the cover with a fitting below so we don't have to take the cover off all the time. As for your taking off with a jerk. I am going to say you need a gauge and fittings, to check the pressures on the MCV which is right ahead of the left step there. I suspect your pressure and adjustments are off. TV will be the guy to talk to, or look for one of his many posts on how to adjust it. IF the lever is stuck look under the tin right under the handle bolts on the left side they will freeze up there. They have a bolt holding them on. Our 856 is froze and we have never bothered to mess with it. The linkage was disconnected when we got it. I use it for a handle to get on it. I'd change the filter first . It is on the right behind a tear drop shaped lid about below the brake pedals. I use a 5 gallon pail and leave it there while changing. It will have a gallon of so run out while changing it. The screen in front of the filter needs to be looked at for dirt or plugging there is a tin piece in behind the filter be sure it is in there and the o-ring on the tube going through the casting is in place or it will suck air at the pump. That tube connects the filter and the pump. They are across from each other. It is all pretty self explanatory upon seeing it. There is a seal o-ring around that tin piece behind the filter also.

i will change the hyd. filter and do the 5 gallon over fill after starting tractor with the oil on the full mark and doing a check to see if improvements first. i am very sure i am loosing pressure as the oil light flashes and no not engine oil! i have a manual engine oil psi guage on it. this is one goofy thing that i dont like already on this tractor ,.. mcv and engine on same light. i am suspecting i have leaking o rings in the mcv also. if i sat in the dark for 45 years i would be dried up also. then i will check the pressures. i was looking for the actual problem but did not get a satisfying answer.

Don't waste your oil. The 5 gallons over full thing only works for one issue and one issue alone. That is not the issue you have.

First and foremost your TA is not 100%. It has a mechanical sprag clutch in it that will pull the tractor in low TA range regardless if there is hydraulic pressure.

If the tractor won't pull at all, that sprag is shot. Sometimes is not even good enough.

So you've got a TA going out regardless.

Rustred, I answered your problem to the best I can with the tractor not being here. I am pretty sure though that you have clutch and TA adjustments out of spec. Since we don't have a TA in any of our tractors I have never had to adjust them in conjunction with the TA or with the clutch. That is why I said to look for one of the many posts by Tv he has explained the procedure several times on here.
