Hi, new to this forum and just acquired my Dads 1946 Case Vac that was my Grandfathers before that. My ? For now would be what is the best battery, size and all the info that goes with that that I can get for the Case. I have a Tractor Supply near me and auto stores also. Thanks in advance.

Originally it was 6 volt positive ground. The chances are that some modifications have been made. If we give you Best battery info, there is risk. Good six
volt batteries can be found, The difficulty is finding a fresh battery on the shelf. Many have been sitting new unused. High cold crank amps is also
desirable. We need more information, like a photo of the existing generator with its number, and regulator/cutout image and number. If it is an alternator, it
is a different reality. Jim

For the most part there is only a few factories that make batteries. They make the same battery for different companies and put different labels on them as brand. Unless you spend the money and get something like Optima, it's pot luck getting a good battery.

6 or 12 volts?? If it still has a generator good chance it is 6 volts if it has an alternator it is likely to be 12 volts. If 12 volts the highest CCA you can find. Or you can do as I do I go to Walmart and buy thee $55 battery that will fit

I converted my 48 VAI (basically a vac) to 12V and do what old said. If 6v I would look at a battery store that likely has a big turn over in stock. Like maybe Interstate or may TSC if it is a busy store.

well we would need info from u as to what battery u are looking for. presume its 6 volts ,as why a person would put a 12 volt battery in
such a small engine. i just changed out a 6 volt starter on a w-6 my brother had with 12 volts. i will post that later on what 12 volts does
to 6 volts. for that tiny engine you dont need much of a battery as the standard 620 cca battery is lots. any bigger wont fit anyhow.

plus battery's have a tag on them telling when they were manufactured. i always take the newest.
these interstate appear to be good battery's . i have in my w-4

The best battery is one that sets on a rubber mat, like an old conveyour belt, for insulation and reduce vibration !!

Well, I bought a brand new 2001 Kubota M6800 tractor and it still has the original battery that says " Kubota" on the side of it. I have no idea who made it but I surly
would like to get another just like it some day. If that day ever comes. (;>)) Nineteen years and going strong.

I might add to that that I have a GE water heater in my house that was installed brand new in 1947, and it is also going strong. I get hundreds of thousands of miles out of my TOYOTA trucks. What in the hell are some of you people doing wrong? Don't bother to answer, I know what in the hell some of you are doing wrong.
