Found Ford sickle mower for $ 300 are they any good ?

I have a Ford 501 sickle bar mower that is driven with a pitman shaft. It has a 6 foot long sickle bar. It works well, but over the years, I've had to do a fair bit of repair work and regular maintenance on it. Parts are still pretty well available. Do you know when it was last used? You need a manual to set it up if it's not actually working right now.

$300.00 is a good price if it's a good, working mower.

Decided against sickle mower - looking for something to mow 2 ft under large pine trees any suggestions??

There were rotary cutters/brush hogs built that had the hitch out to one side for mowing under trees.

A sickle bar mower is best for mowing under trees, unless you have the coin for a verge mower.
