I never thought of that. I just wondered why those old people were moving to Florida or Arizona and quitting working while I'm still working. Some times I don't even feel old till I get out of bed in the morning

The weirdest thing, is having those
old people stare back at you... when
you're standing in front of a mirror!

When I was in school, 30 was old. Then as I got 25, old age moved up to anyone around 40-45. Old age just stayed a few years ahead of me. But at around 50 and above, AARP kept sending me an invitation to join (pay) them so that must be the break point for being old. Now that I am 71, I don't care what is considered old age. I just enjoy the moment.

Only time I really start to think old age is here, is when I think of planning ahead. I don’t think it is any good to make plans that will require me to carry out 20 years into the future. I might still be here, but what will my capability be. So as a guy that had always made 20 year plan, a 10 year plan and a short term 5 year plan, I kinda have to forget about 20 year plans.

That makes me think of the story my mother told me years ago. My dad and mom was out to breakfast and my dad looked over to the end of the counter and then told my mom that the guy sitting at the end sure looked alot like his dad. My mother had to tell him that he was looking at a mirror on the wall.

I'll be 70 in a few weeks.

When I was a kid, that was ancient, borderline pre-historic. None of my parents or grandparents lived to be 75.

Well, here I am, might as well say I'm 70 and I'm in pretty decent health, just the usual BP and cholesterol issues, easily controlled by meds. Thanks largely to modern medicine and proactive health care, I have four older brothers, all still in pretty decent shape, the oldest turned 85 in February.

All of which is to say that, so far at least, getting old hasn't been all that much of a hassle. Other than that wrinkled old fart that stares back at me from the mirror...
