Case 970 Agri King Gas

My 970 runs for 20 minutes then shuts down like its out of fuel , I put an electric pump on it and no difference. I can go back later and it will start right up , Im stuck .

Tank vent plugged? Remove the cap next time it dies, if you hear air rushing in vent is plugged. No fuel out if no air can get in..

Could be a bad coil. Does it still have spark after shutdown?

There is a drain plug in the bottom of the carb.

Have a clean glass ready, remove the plug and catch what comes out. It should be clean gas with minimal trash or visible water on bottom.

Turn on the fuel pump and watch the flow. It should have a steady stream of gas, not a trickle or drip. The fuel should be clean, no trash or water. If dirty, the same will be in tha carb, it may need to be opened and cleaned, the tank removed and rinsed out.

If the flow is not good, check the output of the pump. The pump could be starved from the tank.

There is also a screen in the fitting at the carb inlet.

If all checks well, look at the points adjustment. Be sure the distributor shaft bushing is not worn. Any side play and the points will not stay set.

Run it again until it quits, be ready to check the spark immediately when it quits. It should have a hot blue 1/4" spark at each plug end of the wires.

Feel the temperature of the coil. It should be about the same temperature as the surrounding metal parts. If it is hot, too hot to hold, the coil could be bad, or the wrong coil.

Do some simple trouble shootign the moment it dies on you
#1 check that you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap at the center wireof the cap and at all the plug wires
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes.

It was a dirty tank , cleaned up and all is good, thank you everyone for your help
