Craftsman tools

When Sears was still around, you could get a free repair kit for their ratchets. My 1/4 drive needs a kit. Can they still be had anywhere?

A person hears so many different things, who knows.....

I think they mostly replace the whole tool now, with the Chinese replacement.

I have had to replace a couple ratchets, They just give you one of equal value. I haven't tried Sears Parts, don't know if you can order parts or not.

Dad had his 3/4 ratchet replaced and they gave him a new one with the Craftsman name ground off before chroming it. No more warranty there now. He didn't notice it till he was home and I saw it.

Go to the Craftsman (Stanley Black and Decker, not Sears) web site and use the contact info to send an email to customer service. The reply will come from Dewalt's customer service desk. All the same company. I had a premium 1/4" Craftsman ratchet that started reversing under pressure. Ace Hardware, Atwood's (local farm store) and Lowe's all only warrant tools that they have in stock, so old Sears sourced tools aren't covered by them. But, I got a new design Craftsman replacement from the contact above. Took a couple of weeks but it's a really nice tool.

Before our local Sears went under, they had a local man repair ratchets, and when you took one in for replacement they'd just reach under the counter and hand you a rebuilt one. Good way to do it.

The Sears store here did too. A friend took a old beat up ratchet in and got a brand new one so I took one of mine in and they gave me a old rebuilt one. They must've been out of rebuilt ones when he went in.

My good 35 year old 1/2 ratchet gave up last year. Lowes gave me a new one, but it's made in China, and is decidedly substandard quality from what I had.

That sucks, but wait - Lowe's gave you a
new one?

Please provide additional details.

I have snapped so many wrenches in the past
couple years - dunno if any were craftsman,
but have them sitting in a bucket.

Thanks for all the replies. As I suspected, you can get a new one from HF for less than the price of a rebuild kit. Sure, HF is going to be from China, but so are the rebuild kits.
