Hole under Farmall A

Can someone tell me what the hole under a Farmall A is for. It's between the bottom two bolts that hold the front of the tractor to the transmission.

There is an oval hole in the bottom of the torque tube that should have
a cover over it that is held on with a wing nut. If you look in there
and shine a light toward the engine you can see the timing marks on the
flywheel.
There is also a cover on the side of the torque tube that just pulls
out. That is so you can get a grease gun in there to lube the throw out
bearing.
Hope this helps.
