Raining out right now, lightening bolt woke me up. Moved the tractor 2 days ago and the bottom of the tires were wet, water oozing to the surface.

Neat old rig, don’t see a machine like that here. We have tile.....

What did they use for trip protection, shear bolt, or is there a spring in the hitch or something?

That is a well preserved ripper. How deep does it go? I have both straight leg rippers and parabolic which will go down 18" max but I wish they went deeper. 22" would be about right for me, I think. All I do is rip in the fall if I can. If I can't then I don't. And then make one tillage pass before planting next spring. Thanks for picturing that. I remember when John Deere sold those but never saw one.

wow more work for the 3020.. I like seeing these posts.. they make me realize there are others like me that a still making a living with older equipment.. That would look awesome behind your 420C!!

While cutting hay for a customer on friday. I spied a Big OX V ripper frame thats overgrown along a fence line, Im going to have to investigate.

I run in 6th gear at 1500 rpm hit a piece of old foundation last year and stopped me dead had to get a loader to help pull it out of the ground . The largest killefer pan breaker takes an 80 horsepower tractor to pull

A retired farmer has a 7 shank ripper I can get maybe drop a few shanks and hook it behind the 5020 . I’m not sure the 420c could motivate this thing or not ? I like the old equipment no desire for anything new

This will work about 18 inches if it can get all the way in the ground. They were in the John Deere catalog as least as late as 1961 which is the last catalog I have

I am really hoping to get that tractor this fall early winter . Had the money saved to get it then an old bill came that I had to get squared away and it was all gone again .

It will stop the tractor dead even moving 6 mph haven’t broke anything yet luckily but I have hooked a big piece of cement and had to get a loader to get the ripper out of the ground

I ran 7th for awhile but that was to fast . Run 5 and 6 second trip across depending how rough it is

The only machines I've seen similar to that here are rock diggers. And yes, we have rocks that big that they will stop you dead if you hooked it with that machine. I did a little obsolete tillage myself yesterday. Chem fallow was starting to grow a few weeds since the last spray so I like to cultivate at least once. I hit it with the 33 foot Morris and 4 inch spikes. Really made the dirt fly. This was the spring threshed wheat field.

Looks good Mr rusty . . I’m going to try some conventional follow this fall and see what happens if it gets out of hand I’ll get a shot of aleged liquid cancer at a Max rate with a shot of broad spec
