I have pulled the brakes to clean and adjust them ,After i removed them the was oil leaking out of bolt hole top right and the brakes are covered inside housing. My question is should there be oil coming out of this hole, and do you have to split tractor to replace seal on shaft that brake assembly is on ?

Can't really answer your questions as I'm not sure. Couple of points / questions though.

Is this a "B" series with Case-O-Matic transmission, or 400 series with standard gear shift transmission?

Is the hydraulic oil over full?

If the oil level is correct, it's possible the bolt hole was originally a "blind" hole. These sometimes get broken through by someone using too long of a bolt.

As far as the seal, though the service manual may direct you to pull the brake shaft (possible split), yuo may or may not have to. I have successfully replaced differential braking shaft seals without doing so. In this case, the hardest part may be getting the old seal out.

No the tractor does not have to be split to replace the seal on the brake shaft. First check the dipstick on the tranny to see if it is over full. Usually an over full tranny is caused by a leaky 3pt hitch piston. There should be studs with nuts, threaded into trans housing that hold the brake housing, not a bolt! Lock up the brake on the opposite side of the tranny and that will hold the brake shaft somewhat solid and centered and then you can remove the bearing quill and replace the differential seal. Your 441 may also have differential lock on RH side also, so replace the seal inside the differential shaft also.------------Loren

A 441 is a variant of the later 430s, and has nothing to do with 400B's. 430's never
had the COM in them. The first number in his model stands for 430 series. Second 4
denotes a gas engine, and the one denotes that it is a utility configuration with
flanged rear axles and a lower front axle.----Loren

Sorry, not thinking tonight. The one in his model number denotes the row-crop version with bar axles and adjustable front axle or NF. The model 440 would be the utility version.-----------------Loren

Thanks for all the help I have to pull the cover off the side. There were two screws hidden under the brake assembly now my question is how much fluid will be out of there when I pull the covers?
