Looking for opinions on which is worth more or are they the same..both are in good running order and complete thanks

If you plan to use it buy the 5020. I had a 5010 for 2 years and it was the most disappointing John Deere I ever had. My 4020 with the fuel turned and an M&W engine kit would out do the 5010 on a two row forage harvester. The 5010 was fun to run if you kept it reved up but if the rpm's dropped it would not recover unless you found a hill to go down or raised your implement. You felt like a big operator up on that platform with the big fenders surrounding you. Tom

Deere made 7500 5010s and 12000 5020s--about the same tractor--the 5020 was listed as having 10-15 more hp. I've had both--not much difference. Buy them both!!---Tee

Total 5010s made were just over 5,400 with some of them exported. That is compared to almost 13,000 5020s made so by production numbers alone the 5010 would be the more desirable tractor. As far as the 5010 vs 5020 performance debate goes its kind of a moot point because almost all 5010s that survived to this day have had 5020 engines dropped into them and I'm willing to bet the 5010 you are looking at has a 5020 engine. Back in the day JD after the 5020 was introduced JD had sort of a recall/program to exchange the engine out of a 5010 for a 5020 engine kind of similar to the engine exchange JD did with the 4520. The original 5010 engine was a little weak in a few areas such as oil capacity. And for the record we have both a 5010 and a 5020 row crop.
