What brands and models of tractors/ equipment were manufactured with Perkins 6.354 Diesel engines? Was it widely used? I know some Dodge trucks used them in the 60s. They were also installed in some boats/ yachts.
Anyone know of a good online resource of info about these engines? Thanks.

They were in 1100 and1130 Massey Ferguson tractors and combines. 105 White tractors. And Oliver's.

I have a 400 MF Dozer with one. It starts and runs great. When they are in good shape they are a great engine.

I'm pretty sure they were used in the original case 1660 and 1665 combines when a diesel was used.

There were updates to those engine. There was the no dot as used in the Oliver 1850 and then came the dot 1, 2 3 & 4 engines.

50 years as now (July and August) I was driving a Dodge 6 wheel truck with a Perkins 6-354 diesel engine taking 14 tons of hay from Lincolnshire in the east of England to North Wales. I drove many miles in first gear up those Welsh mountains.
When IH built the Loadstar trucks at the Doncaster works here in the UK in the 1960s they fitted Perkins 6-354 engines in them. MJ.

Yup in the 708 we have one with it in it. It got the name pukins from me for not starting in cold weather and always needing something. Smoked like a freight train doing anything. Even just moving around, didn't matter if chopping hay, corn or ear corn. Would be so glad to have it gone. Taking up space in the shed I could use.

Very widely used here in Australia in trucks and tractors both as original equipment and for repowering

Had a great reputation for reliability but not great power as compared to modern diesels

Thanks for all responses. They have been very helpful.

I am interested in doing a diesel repower in a early 50s Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. Its something I first considered about 15 years ago, and keep coming back to. Of course other makes have been suggested: Cummins 4BT, Detroit 453, etc. Right now its really just a pipe dream. Thanks.
