Hard plowing

I have a few acres we harvested rye from and am planning on having a small plow day on Sat. The ground is harder than I would like and I am not sure about the smaller trailer plows working. Guess I am going to go over it with the chisel plow and disc. My Deere 3 bottom f145 is going in good but I have it on a 4020. The 4020 has no weights or fluid and I am glad it is a three bottom and not a four.Good well adjusted plows with good shears should work but that does not always happen at a plow day and I want everyone to enjoy themselves and not fight their plows. Can the group agree to postpone the plow day until you get some rain? That might make a better plow day and leave your field in better condition too.

Well it will separate the ones with good equipment who know how to set it from those that don't ! lol.
I went to a plow day once and the field was hard and had been pack down from the silage wagons going back and forth too. A guy with a 730 transmission went out so I hooked my 720D onto his 4 bottom full mounted plow and it went really good. I was worried as I had no extra weights but that plow was set up good and had new parts and it went well. My JD LA and 1 bottom mounted plow I had to stop and unbolt the front hitch and tilt it down for more down force and then it went really good too.
One other time in easy plowing ground I had my late B and hooked onto a 2 bottom trailer plow. It was not going too well and I could see the plow was trying to go crooked. They had a 3 bottom plow there so I hook to it and was able to go fine. Just had to down shift going up the grade on the backside of the field.

If the plow has some suction, [tip of lay tipped downward ] and the lays are sharp it will go in the ground, but if it's dry it will turn sharp lays into dull pretty quick!
