Up north last weekend at my little brother's place. He has a lovely 5 acre field in the middle of a 36 acre chunk of woods.
He mowed the majority of the area. Would have been sad if I didn't let him have his turn. I topped his deer plot and went a few rounds with the mower myself.
6' BH mower is quite a bit for the little 3000 to heft though it spins it fine in tall grasses and weeds.
Nice summer day. Shorts and a Tee shirt.
Couple of beers when we were done.
Tractor could use a bit of maintenance - brakes, one injector leak off line weeps a little.
Nothing that can't wait till the season is done. Meanwhile it'll put his head down and pull.
Perhaps too often I just post OT stuff here. Sorry if that offends. I do have a couple of tractors that I like to run.
Here's one of them, working like it is supposed to do.

Pfft. If your 3000 diesel was having some trouble with the 6' BH there's something wrong with it. I spin a 6' hog with an 8N in pretty thick stuff, and no issues as long as I'm not hitting branches. I don't see anything in the pics that should cause any trouble as long as you're not in 4th gear.

May want to have it looked at.

You are correct. I could have phrased
that better. This piece of my brother's
is an easy mow and we did cut most of it
in 4th.
Have a few photos of it in the thick
stuff with its tongue hanging out. Can't
find them now.
The tractor makes normal power. It is one
of those tractors Ford donated to VoTechs
back in the mid 1970s. Had Zero hours on
it when I bought it. Might have 800 on it
now. It's actually a 3600.
I've bought and built 7 or 8 of these
"School Tractors" over the years. Sold
them all except two. Had his one for 15
years now.

I see dogbane, too.

Nasty stuff.

Perennial and rizhomes. Spreads like crazy and mowing will only slow spread.

Most selective weed killers will not touch it and those that will require multiple applications.

Most of us come here for the semi-related but sort of OT stuff.
Those are great pictures, and it looks like you and little
brother had a good day.

And why would anybody put an oil filter on sideways on the block so it can run down the block when you pull the filter off. Never made sense to me. Cars have done that too.
