AAGH!!!
Well that was dark chocolate milkshake.
Some water evident at the end of fluid.
Small white droplets of water, nothing major. Atmosphere most likely.
Removing all the inspection cover and doing a gasket swap from filler plug to drain plug.
Going to buy cheap high detergent oil to flush system and run short term and change oil with something with long life additives. Amsoil has a great product and Amsoil's detergents and anti-wear formula and with new gaskets, rear axle seals and brakes totally rebuilt, synthetic oil makes sense.

20 in winter
90 in summer
Sits for extended periods too.
Synthetic oils great against oxidation
from atmospheric moisture.
Tree farmer and this is a skidder/hauler.
FYI Amsoil independent dealer since 1976.
Synthetic oil in everything: gasoline,
diesel and propane. 2 stroke and 4
stroke.

Didn't think about that. I noticed the starter switch was bypassed too and a funky fix.
Didn't see what was obvious.
Lucky to have roofing material for metal roofs and can wrap shifter and starter with to seal.

Why reinvent the wheel? These machines are around today because they were built right. Return it to original condition, correct starter, boot on shifter. Dads 8n has never been indoors. I changed the fluids last fall after over 20 years on them (engine oil gets twice a year), and found little water in it. OEM design works well.

Your machine. Are you asking us for our opinion or want us to say your right?

I'm an AMSOIL dealer as well and use it in everything but i never put it in my Case 800. 1, I never put that many hours on it to bother with the extra $, 2, never really used it in the winter, 3, i think the AMSOIL tech guys may steer you away from using it if the seals haven't been updated (call them for yourself). some old seals were not compatible.

If your in cold country yeah, that old tractor will behave better in the winter in starting, 3pt operation and shifting.

however. I would fix the water leaking in regardless of the type/brand of oil i used.

You may have drained 20, 30, 40, or 50 plus years of old oil and condensation. On older machines I don't both with synthetic fluids, but do drain and replace fluids regularly.

If your worried about a little water in the transmission oil, CIH HY-TRAN absorbs up to 5% water by volume. Only hydraulic & transmission oil I know that does that. It IS a 10W weight oil. Tends to find leaky seals and gaskets you didn't know you had, and gearboxes howl a little more.
