Pleasant surprise

I recently has a failure with my PerTronix electronic ignition. I was expecting a hassle and couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. They were very easy to deal with and I had my new ignition in just a few days. They are also a USA company. This post isn't intended to be a discussion of points versus electric ignition. Ellis

Electronic ignitions are pointless!

If you don't have resistor plug wires, install them before replacing your Pertronix unit. Solid plug wires have been implicated in some Pertronix failures.

For many years, failure or automotive EI units is almost unheard of .

WHY is it so acceptable for the junqueTronics units to fail?

Warranty and quick service is WONDERFUL for hobby units, but for machines critical to a task such as in harvest time a failure and a wait of DAYS for a replacement part doesn't work well.

I replace the points in my old Towmotor forklift this spring with a Pertronix setup. I had a devil of a time getting it to fit the distributor even though they swore it should fit that particular model distributor. I had a long discussion about it with them. I eventually turned the cam lobes back on the distributor shaft in my lathe and got it to fit. Well worth the effort as it has never run better since I installed them. Fires off instantly now.
I have their ignitions in several old pieces of equipment and love them.
