I just installed a a 91 plow to my Farmall model a I was reading the directions and it says on the left wheel I should set it at 40 in on the right wheel at 44 in and the front tires at 44 in I'm going to plow a field in a couple weeks what I'm trying to understand is why do you have to set your tires and how do you set your tires at those distances any help would be appreciated

Simple, but not a distance. When a mounted plow is in the soil rolling it over (after the first pass) the inside of the right side tir will be running in the furrow against the land side of the furrow. the plow cut width is intended to be from that furrow edge to the next furrow edge. So the wheel is set to allow the share and colter to turn soil the designed width. The front wheels should be set to the just touching the furrow land side when going nice and straight. Jim
