Ford 600 series question

I'm looking for fly wheel bolts for a Ford 600 series tractor. My measurements show I need a 7/16x20 at 1.5" long, needing 6, but Yesterday's tractor advertises a 7/16x20 at 7/8" long with only 4. Does anyone have the correct bolt for this application?

I gona go out on a limb and say the manufacture has those bolts miss labeled because this site is not the only one that list those wrong parts for the 600 tractor. Those 4 bolts are the ones used on 1932 to 1948 Ford cars and trucks so I assume they are for the N series tractors.

The correct part for the 600 with the 10 single clutch are part number 43070S36. Screw, Cap, HH, G8, Self-Locking, 7/16''-20 x 1-5/8'' and yes you need 6 of them.
I did a search for the part number and the only place I could find them new was from the New Holland dealer.
But sit down cause they want $28.98 each for them.
So your next step might be to try and find them used.

Your old Ford is not a lunar landing
module. Just go to your hardware store
and buy some 7/16-20 x 1 1/2" grade 8
bolts and put them in. No washers.

Understood, but I was thinking the originals had the holes in the bolt head for the locking wire. If this isn't an important feature, then I'll revert to a standard grade 8 bolt.

Neither my 960 nor my 961 had security wire through those bolt heads.

The N series, 9, 2, & 8 use same as the 600. At least my 9N uses that 1 5/8" bolt. My 41 9N was apart since 2004 and in that time some of them were lost and had to get replacements. Used Tractor parts yard close so that is where we got them. And they do have the hole for the wire. Engine has finally gotten in running condition again but not yet installed. I do also have a 44 2N. Inch and half too short.

Get the correct bolt, that 1/8" makes a big difference in tighening. by not being long enough. And orignals were probably no stronger than what is now grade 2 bolts. Look for a tractor parts yard for them. That is what I just had to do having lost I think 3 of them.

You cannot get the correct length and get a longer bolt and cut off the threads will not be correct length.

Remember a bolt with threads only part way into the nut will not hold as good as if the threads are full ways into the nut.
