E450 Ford 7.3 diesel

I am working on a 2001 Ford diesel at my work. Truck has not run in about four years. Am replacing the batteries and checking fluids.
Any concerns about just turning the key and trying to start it?
Is the diesel fuel still ok? It's been sitting outside in the heat and cold and rain and snow here in Michigan.
We will sell it if we get it running.

Maybe throw some Biodiesel or the like in the tank with a couple gallons of fresh diesel to mix it up, open the water drain and let it flow for a minute or so with the switch on, and change the fuel filter, clean up the mess and go for it.

O wouldn't start it without getting a fuel sample. Diesel that old can have contaminents and or algae in it. Best to drain the tank completely.

I would NOT hesitate to try and start it on old fuel.....diesel don't go bad like gas does, so the "old" fuel won't make a difference...i would replace the fuel filter before trying to start it,and be sure to fill filter(s) with fuel or better yet, injector system cleaner, which will kill two birds with one stone...another idea,if you haven't already,clean/check battery cables....do you know why the truck has not been ran in years?just curious.

It will be ok.

Sitting 4 years is not long for a diesel.

One thing I would do though, and it's not so important on that because of all the electronics, but on a mechanical diesel, have access to the air intake and a board handy to smother it down in case of a runaway.
