O-Ring Material for Diesel Fuel

I have to replace a pair of O-rings on a low pressure diesel fuel oil/water filter on a John Deere tractor.

What O-ring material is best suited for use with diesel fuel??

I could I suppose, but the JD dealer is 23 miles away. And I figure a simple low pressure O-ring is an O-ring regardless of the tractor color (not to mention "genuine" JD parts are typically quite expensive). And NAPA is only 5 miles away!

Just wondered. I've seen guys fumble around a couple different parts houses in an attempt to save a few dollars while wasting a good part of an afternoon. Their next story is that they are PO'd because dealers have discontinued slow moving parts.

Yeah, I've been down that road before!!! Generally, O-rings are pretty "standard" stuff so I kinda figured I could get away with getting them locally. I just want to make sure I get one that is compatible with diesel fuel.

Be aware that there are O rings and o- ring kits that are not sized quite right.

For example a 200 series o-ring nominally has an 1/8 cross section but will actually measure .139
The "almost right ones" will actually measure 1/8 or .125 so bring your calipers to make sure you get what you think you're getting.

Depending on what it is and how it goes together the slightly off ones might still work but the engineer who designed it had the .139 in mind.
