while raking yesterday I hit a rut and the batteries fell out of the box, pulling wiring with them.Bought new cable ends and reassembled as I remembered. The two Pos.cables connected together and a ground wire to one Neg.post. One Neg.post has no cables and I know it had one before the accident. What wire should be connected to that other post. Tractor will not crank unless jumped at the solenoid.Possible I lost a wire in the field I didnt find. Help would be appreciated. [/code]

The two positive posts will be connected together and go to positive. The two negative will be connected together and go to ground. You must
have lost the ground cable. I assume it is negative ground.

If I read correctly you have lost a 2nd wire from your ground post. Maybe you had one direct to the starter.

On my VAI (converted to negativce ground 12v) it would not crank without a large cable direct from the negative post to one starter bolt. The frame ground was just not strong enough to ground the starter enough to turn over.

I will make a ground wire for that neg.post. After some adjusting of the wires it seems to start fine.I will make sure the batteries are locked in this time. Thanks again[/i]

The parts book shows 2 positive cables and 2 ground straps, then also a ground cable. Use the same size ground cables per battery. You are calling the grounds, wires, that worries me. Some starters had a heavy
ground cable going to them but don't know much about AC's. Maybe a 12 gauge ground wire ran from battery to solenoid. How many wires on the starter/solenoid?

while looking under the tractor I found where a cable had been bolted to the frame. When the batteries came out,it pulled the cable out of the ends. Installed a new ground cable and now its good to go.The wires I was referring to were from the bale monitor.Replaced the ends on it and now its like new.Lesson learned-secure the batteries.[/i]
