Dropping off our aluminum fence cut offs and wandered around the yard. Found a tire on a rim with busted final drive still attached. Asked how much. Told me to load it up , take it home , remove tire and return metal. Got a good 12.4 x 28 tire and tube for free. Good to know the right folks

Lugs on one side are chewed up a bit......

I thought that was a good deal when I saw it Saturday.
How hard was it to get off the rim?
Did you get the hay baled?
Richard

Came off rim fairly easy. Too hot for that kind of work! Hay got baled. Rained on twice. Wasn't dry enough. Property owner says it was. After we finished he asked for half, and had us stack it in his barn!! We gave our half (57 bales) to our preacher to scatter over his grass seed and dirt at his new house. I didn't want to sell it because of moisture level. Bales were 85+ lbs. Usually bale 60 lbs. We didn't adjust the baler and it was small windrows. About 120 bales off 6-7 acres....... Not doing that field again. 15 miles from home too.......

Scrap yards hate to deal with tires so they will give them away if they can. I know the local scrap yard will charge you if a junk car has tires on it

Sprint 6, we got them Monday. I emailed..... Don't know what happened to the email? Plan to start on truck repair in the morning. I'm betting we have to call you a couple times. Thank you for your help.!

That's the last business I'd do with that land owner, on average ground I get 2/3 and land owner pays labor to put hay in their barn, if I fertilize I get 3/4.
If that was first cutting that ground is in very poor condition, 6 acres of less than average first cutting should make 200-250 50-60 lb bales.

Oh. I agree. Not a good deal for us at all. That's why I like to say I don't have friends.......... Usually doesn't end well. This was 2nd cutting. First got 80 bales.

Why didn't you ask about keeping the rim or was it a rim that would not fit any or your tractors

If you took a survey, I bet half the folks on this website have got a serious injury doing farm work. Me included, and more than one. So, how about you? And, I am a cautious person who doesn’t do stupid things. But working on and around heavy, moving machinery that is meant to cut, crush and pack is inherently dangerous.

In all of my farming activity, which far predates yours, not one even minor injury, which proves my point. We have been seriously dumbed down, you most specifically included.
