So I recently got a tractor the guy said it was an 8N but it is definitely not an 8N. I have a '50 8N and this is nothing like it. I think it is a 1942 2N, cannot find a 8,9,or2 N stamped on the block but the serial number is very clear 104352. Has anyone else run into this situation, comments, advice, any help. I need to get some parts for this sweet baby.

Well, if has a flathead engine and a 3-speed transmission it's either a 9N or a 2N, and most all wear parts are identical between them, so figuring out what parts to buy shouldn't be a big deal.

Of course, sometimes engines get swapped, if it would happen to have a "side-mount" distributor a late 8N block could have been swapped in.

Thanks, but the rear hubs and front wheels don't match anything she showed. Wish I could post a picture.

Why can't you? It's not that hard. Go down below the "reply" box. Down below where it says "advanced posting tools" it will say "upload photos/videos". Click on "choose files" and it should bring up the pics on your computer. Find the one you want and double click on it. It will begin to upload the picture. Wait for it to get finished (it will tell you when the upload is complete). Bingo! You're done!

This is on modern view. Can't vouch for the other one.

I have tried that and nothing happens. Oops got it to work finally. Don't understand why 1 is upside down.

Thats a 2n or 9n.

Has 9N / 2N rear wheels, front wheels, hood, foot pegs, transmission (cover), brake pedals. Has 9n or early 2N radius rods. Looks like a 42 (2N) or later grill.

Serial number for 2N or 9N start with 9N. Your number puts it at a 1942, so for all intent and purposes a 2N (there was some overlap of 9N 2N serial numbers in 1942)

No difference in parts for 9N or 2N

Easy way to tell the 2N has a bolt in bottom of doglegs to mount hood, the 9N has hidden fastners under the bottom of the hood and your pictures do not show any sign of that bolt in the dog leg. Owner of a 1944 2N bought new by Dad in May of 44 and a 41 9N. The front wheel spindals and link bar on top are different as well, The 9N has a wedge bolt to hold that arm on and the 2N uses a normal cap screw type of bolt. The key to hold that arm in place is in a different spot and try to mix the two and cannot get front wheels to both be going same direction.
