Question for Welding Man others

Welding Man answered a question about welding leaf springs and what rod to use.Well can't find the post or remember the name of the rod he recommended.I don't know where Welding Man hangs out so I thought i'd start here. Thanks for any and all help. Neil

Call Farmers Choice in Omaha, Neb. 1-800-533-8935, and order some Super Gold rod. It is expensive but it will weld anything. I have used it for thirty years and never had it fail on any job. Good rod and good company.

We used to use Eutectic 680 for spring steel, I welded a garage door spring with it once.

This post in the link? If I was buying welding rod BASED ON NAME alone probably wouldn’t purchase a stick of what he is recommending...Super Missle Weld...? It must be good rod if he recommends it, but the name they chose for it sure screams gimmick!

We had Super Missileweld also, but I never used any, but I think I saw one in my tool box recently.

Sir I will assure you that it is not a gimmick or snake oil or any kind of a scam. It has proven itself to me many times over the last 30 years. It is not new, it is produced by one of the most reputable companies in the welding business and I will not back down on my praise for it. This is a pure example of how something in type does not always convey exactly what is meant. That is why I put BASED ON NAME in all caps to show if my opinion of the quality of the product was strictly drawn from how it was named I would be very skeptical. More of a statement of the times we live in like ...Super Flex Seal... After I posted my reply I did do some web searches on the rod and it seems as though everything you said about it was confirmed. Sorry, if you thought I was questioning your opinion of the product. After the fact I thought I should have added a link to the product but since we cannot edit posts on this forum I moved on.
