Does anyone else utilizing Win 10 have their computer grind for 6 hours @ 91% complete attempting to download an update?? I got tired of waiting so I did what disclaimer stated not to do & "turned off my PC". I disconnected power source for about 10 minutes then turned it back on. A disclaimer came up my PC was removing what had been changed. In a little while PC came back to normal with a notification of failed Win 10 download that stated to click on for info so I clicked on it. Below is what it stated.

Has anyone else had this problem? This is the 2nd time my PC has hung at 91% complete download.
Thanks for any help.

The first question that pops into my brain is How much memory do you have available?

Sounds like the update is a huge file. Your computer should be keeping all the old files until the new update is complete, then it will delete all unneeded files.

Just my semi-educated guess.

Took mine into a computer store to have windows 10 installed. Now when I turn it on it takes about 5 minutes to bring it up and
its says can not install all up dates do not shut off. Not brave enough to shut it off. Windows 10 is not impressing me at all.

Thanks for reply. My computer knowledge is very elementary maybe even more like kindergarten. I don't have a clue what it's memory is or how to find out. LOL

I have 1 computer with windows 10 and it continually fails to install 1 update. After 10 or so tries to make it work I gave up. So much for this version of windows working properly. I am sticking with win 7 for now in spite of all the dire warnings about security being out of date. But if the updates on win 10 won't install how is that more secure??

Automatic update threw my printer off line. I didn't realize it
had happened for a couple weeks because I didn't print anything.
After about a week of off and on looking online for a solution, I
found that windows 10 had discovered the problem and put out the
fix on another update, but it was not automatic. Got it done but
don't need that frustration.

2004 feature update is rolling out in phases.. base on your particular pc and its components. Yes.. many of my pc's have partially installed it and then had to roll back to version 1909 or 1903...pend your pc.

each time it tries, and fails, it sends a report back to microsoft and their engineers then modify the update so that next time the problem encountered,, will work... Problem is... that it can then go past the first problem and get to the next problem where a component does not like a particular driver update.

SO... best leave it till it stalls out,,, and then goes into a automatic "roll back".. If it stalls forever, a forced reboot should also roll it back to the previous software.

Lots of early video card configurations have caused problems in the past so they have to write a patch for them as the original manufacturer will no longer support 5 and 10 year old hardware.

Ironically some of my older laptops have already upgraded successfully to version 2004 where my newest computer is still trying and having to roll back at least twice now. I run around 13 computers with my ham radio wspr setups, backup server, my music and video servers and then scattered players and internet access in the various buildings so its always interesting to watch them struggle through the major updates. or not.

Linux Mint solved all of my Windows problems. Computer guy left Win. 10 in my cornfuser for a couple of years.Never used it after the Linux instillation, so he removed it the last time I had my cornfuser in for a tune-up.

Last decent operating system was Windows 98SE . It did everything that Windows 10 does . Faster , simpler with less memory and processor demand .

I just went through something like this last month. I assemble my own computers from new parts and have a Linux based computer that I was converting to Windows-10 Pro because I thought there was an intermittent bug in the Linux OS.
I loaded up a COA copy of 10 Pro and started to do all the normal updates as you should. The computer after an hour started to slow down as it did with Linux. (Not every time, but enough in a couple of months to drive you nuts.)
Then windows 10 Pro error'ed out and did not finish a major Microsoft upgrade.
Something was not right. Not a heat problem. I only use silver based heat sink compound and my computer case is well ventilated with the CPU never getting hotter than 110 degrees F.
Power supply?,nope not hot and swapping it out with another did not help. GPU board?, not that either. A spare board did the same thing after a few hours of processing videos. Not a Hard drive I swapped those out as well.
Not the mother board. Seldom do they fails during normal use and care.
That left the memory sticks. I did the several hour grueling memory test of my 16 GB of non-ECC memory and darned if one stick would fail after an hour or so!
The quick test always passes.
I replaced the bad stick of memory with the same maker/type and all is working 100% again. All updates load very quickly as well as some very large and high quality videos I do.
The memory stick was a very slow and not obvious failure causing lots of grief over the last couple of months.
Everything worked, and worked well and then like melting ice cream, things would just start to bog down with the windows spinning wheel or an error saying the system was busy, please wait, and towards the end, just lock up with no mouse/key board functions working. Had I'd been patient and done the long test, I would have found the problem a couple of moths ago. Now I will always do the long test.

I had the same problem with my computer. I updated the display, network & sound drivers in Hardware
and turned my printers off and tried again and it worked but it took several hours. You don't
want any devices hooked to your computer except the mouse and keyboard.
