I am changing my 6 Volt system to a 12 Volt system. Need to know what type of coil to use. I saw a video on utube talking about two typs of 12 volt coils. Thanks for any help

Depends. You could stay with your current 6 volt coil by putting a resistor in line to bring the total resistance of coil & resistor to about 3.0 ohms (2.7-3.3 Ohms of resistance in the ignition circuit for a 4 cylinder on 12 volts).
With this setup, and if your solenoid relay has a second small terminal marked "R" you could also provide full voltage to the coil while cranking for easier starting. Not sure if the OEM relay has this "R" terminal or not.

You could also use a 12 volt coil that does not require additional resistors. These coils have the correct amount of resistance themselves. NAPA IC14SB, Standard Ignition UC15T are a couple that do not require additional resistance. I'm sure there are others.

Thanks for the info.

The fords take a special solenoid because they are grounded to work, I do not know if they have the bypass, others can chime in.
