Dill Pickles

Any of you make Dill Pickles? My wife makes quarts, and pints to sell at our local craft fair. She has made 70 quarts so far. The craft fair is in November. We may have to eat a lot of pickles if the virous hasn't slowed down by then. I plant two 20 ft rows about a ft apart, and the plants about 4 inches apart. I put a fence for them to climb on. Makes it real easy to pick. I grow my own dill. Now I am going to mow some weeds today. Stan

How far from SD are you guys? If the craft fair folds, we'd be glad to help you out, but would have to be delivered, wife won't take a road trip until a successful nnalert is available.

I am in Encinitas about 30 miles north of San Diego on the coast. Where are you located? Thanks Stan

They won’t have a cure for the virus until after the election then we’ll see if it lasts 4 more years or not

SD means South Dakota, so not close to you I'm afraid. Wouldn't mind taking a road trip to your part of the world after Christmas, if there is a cure. It would be nice to get away from the snow and ice in our part of the world about that time. A jar of dill pickles went for $110 at our tractor club's Christmas party (fund raiser) in January this year, so people around here will do/give a lot for dill pickles when it looks like they are getting to be in short supply. Primarily an old German Heritage area, so knowing how to make pickles in the genes.

I would like to have some of those pickles too! It is a real long drive from Texas! We almost always have an outbreak of something on election years.

(quoted from post at 14:04:25 07/14/20) Guess she will not leave home then.

Yep. Get comfortable because that isn't very likely happening. The recovery from this is absolutely stellar - better rate of recovery than the common flu. I just do not understand the panic, but not up to me and I encourage those who are fearful to do what they want.

Just made some the other day!

One of my best friends spent 54 days in a coma.

1948, you have no idea of what you are talking about.

Mowed 21 acres today in 7 hours....love long fields! I do hot garlic dills in gallon jars, cold pack with a little CaCl, add hot brine and put the lid on. I do little ones, nice and crisp. Jars are re-used from the farm and fleet store that a customer gave us years ago....

We have a family friend that make awesome dill pickles that range from normal to burn all the way down. He makes several hundred pints every year. We use to grow alot of cucumbers for him but now there is several 100 acres of them j
Grown in the area.
