Does this compact tractor have a hyd filter and if it does where is it at. Also are the brakes band type of disk type. Will be trying to fix the brakes and hyds on one tomorrow
Thanks

If its like the other Yanmar tractors I have worked on the brakes are two shoes to a side that expand out as the brakes are applied about as simple of a set up as it comes. The problem sometimes is the shaft that operates the brakes get rusted tight where it goes thru the housing.Do NOT get rough with it or you will break the housing.Hoye tractor has parts breakdowns on their website.

Best set up on tractor brakes I have ever seen everything just bolts off put the new brakes in,hook up the springs bolt them back on and you're ready to go.
Put some never seize or grease where the shaft goes thru the housing.

I do not have a Yanmar, but I do have a 650 John Deere compact diesel made by Yanmar and it does not have a filter but has a screen on the bottom right side of the transmission housing under a triangle shaped cover. When you drain the oil you are supposed to take the screen out to clean and reuse it.

hey old i have a 336 and the hyd filter is a spin on located under the transmission on the left side looking at the front of tractor, right side as your sitting on it, runs horizontal with the tractor, i need to do the brakes on mine but the prices on reman shoes are around $300.00 on ebay and higher from deere, if you know someone who relines them it would be cheaper.

Hey Old, I don't know a thing about Yanmar tractors but I haven't seen you on here in awhile and just wanted to say it's good to see you post. Keith

Good thing about the YM226 is that it is a USA sold tractor, not a 'Grey market', imported as a used machine. So it is officially supported by Yanmar, USA. If parts are needed they should be easier to source. Yanmar dealer, Hoye or others that cater to that brand.

So called 'officially' sold yanmars and some JD built Yanmar owners now have to go to Hoye who is a grey market supplier to get parts. So really the grey market ones are the ones to own.

Well new brake shoes didn't help. The pedal adjustment is as tight as it can get and still not brakes to it looks like the brake drum is wore out also. But I did find the hyd filter and it is a simple on and off Wix 51515

This was a Golf course tractor at one time so good chance it saw a lot of braking as it mowed the greens etc. I jacked up the side with the new brakes and turned the wheel as much as I could which was not much and pulled on the brake lever and I could make the brake grab but could not do that if I hooked up the rod to the brake pedal. Shoes went into the drum super easy. Also new shoes appear to be say an 1/8 inch or more thicker then the ones I pulled out

Repair manual and what it had went hand in hand no missing parts or other such things. Whole lot of dust came out both inside the brake drum and around the out side of the brake drum
