Re connecting rods

I have a connecting rod from a super a and a super c. They both have the same part number. The only difference is the super c has the word ATLAS stamped on it. Can I use it in the super c engine? They do appear identical.

I would guess they are. But better to wait for the ones that know.

I can't answer for the fit, but do you have any history on the rod?

If you don't know the story on it, I would take it to a machine shop and have it reconditioned.

It may be bent, have the wrong cap on it, who knows?

They could probably answer your question too.

Probably a outside company IH used for a supplier. IH liked to keep more than one source in those years. Think there was a atlas forging co. in the Chicago area.

Same part number same rod. If you know it came from a reliable source, use it. Jim
