All I know it was slowing traffic way down for all the lookee lose. Feel sorry for the guy totaled his pick up and totaled his trailer. We’ll see if this picture post correctly instead of all sideways.
 
It looks like the tail was waging the dog judging by the position of the axles on the trailer. A couple years ago I was on a two lane, I came up over a small hill and on the other side I met a pickup pulling a trailer hauling a Ditch Witch. He was in full wag, swerving all over the road but he got hold of it Just inches from the ditch. Ill bet his heart was a thumpin.
 
The position of the axles is not as important as the position of the load, he might of been just fine, but hard to tell when it's upside down!
 
I would be willing to bet that he didn't have enough of the % of weight of the load on the front of the trailer.
 
Too mich weight on toung can be as bad as not enough weight on toung. Too much weight wants to lift front wheels of truck off road so cannot steer.
 
The possibilities are many.

May have had to ditch it to avoid an accident, drifted off the road, blown tire, clipped by another vehicle...

The load must have been well secured, it stayed with the trailer.
 
the tow vehicle looks like a 2500 hd 4wd short bed extended cab. should be more than enough for the load on the trailer. the trailer tires seem to be intact too. id guess a vehicle got in his way, or excessive speed.
 
Overloaded I'd say, 1/2 ton pickup appeared to have been loaded and about a 12 ft trailer with 4ft high sides must have been loaded from the number of melons in the road.Upside down in the road driver was lucky the cab held up the truck.
 
Another case of tail wagging the dog I bet. I have seen it many times on the road. they have to slow down and the trailer starts swaying and they hit the brakes in stead of speeding up, or just applying the trailer brakes.
 
That happens a lot to folks that drive a skid loader on the trailer rather than back in as is proper procedure and is how all skid loader trailers are designed to be loaded. Never have figured out why people insist o doing that.
 
If they would just use load levers it would control that problerm but they woyld rather just bounce along with the front tires barly hitting the pavement. I use load levers all the time on my trailers. Also usually sway bar as well.
 
I have load levelers on my F550 they are called heavy duty springs and enough rear end and weight to tow and handle a trailer like it should.Also a long wheel base makes a truck handle a trailer better.
