I have watched several youtube videos regarding removal but I cannot get it off of the drivers side post. I have tried it at about closed( 80 degree up) and it will not budge. Any Ideas??

If its an aluminum tailgate with a plastic bushing and it has ever had salt or fertilizer near it... you are going to need to use a lever of some sort to pry it sideways. Then you will need to use a die grinder to remove some of the plastic to get it back on.

Corrosion between the aluminum and plastic swells up and holds on tightly. Speaking from experience on a few 4-5 year old Fords.

Take the passenger side off first, swing it out to clear, and pull it to the right off the round hinge pin.

Be sure there are no electric connections first!

Yes I am able to get the right side off no problem. I have disconnected the camera. It probably is swollen, I can see a plastic bushing in it. I will try prying it off. Thanks for the suggestions.

Try your favorite merical lube on the hinge and a few up-down wiggles to distribute it. Then a small pry bar between and the edge of the tail gate & box side. It'll take two people, those tail gates are heavy!

Got it off. Pry worked. took some pressure, will clean it up and lube it for next time
Thanks everyone.
