New to this forum. Im in need of a crank shaft or a complete engine for my JD 850.
My engine serial number is CH3043D218794. Any help would be appreciated.

That Frame size of Yanmar was used in a lot various machines . Street sweepers, mowers, you name it .
What happened to the original engine ?

Spun a rod bearing and scared the crank shaft. Other than that it needs an overhaul. Just trying to figure out my best options.

There has to be some shop out there that rebuilds Yanmars, have crate engines ready and will take the core.
Just out of curiosity . What will the dealer allow on a trade for a new version of the 850 ? Wont hurt to find out for curiosity sakes . 30 years old and it sold new for $11,000. http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/000/0/9/99-john-deere-850.html

Most scored cranks can be repaired. A good machine shop can weld and turn to an undersize matching the other throws, or standard, whichever is to your liking. Probably cheaper than a replacement and shipping. If you have an engine rebuilder nearby, they will likely be cheaper than a straight machine shop as that and boring is about all they do.

For curiosity sake due to the fact that you regularly try to persuade members to buy "NEW tractors" when is your wife going to allow you to trade the old JD tractor for a "new tractor"???

You need one of the new tractors with all the "electronic controls".
