Cut some fall planted triticale yesterday. Non-irrigated and stood over 60 inches tall. Have had more than normal spring rains this year. Located in SE Idaho.

If i cattle; I'd make the switch from Rye to tritacle. much wider window on harvesting for good feed!

Never heard of anyone cutting it for green forage over here. We combine it and use the grain for cattle a pig feed.

I think back east here we get enough more rain most years that alfalfa is a better forage crop than the triticale is. The Alfalfa lasts more than one year . I think the Triticale needs to be planted each year.

We plant it for seed in Kansas.... cut it during wheat harvest and then they plant it in the fall for winter grazing :)

Some Canadians I worked with talked about Triticale so it must be grown in Canada too. They were from central Saskatchewan.
