They don't make them like before

I have a curved bumper from 1940 ford that I want to be straight. I drove on with tractor flattening it and when drove off it returned to same curve.
Touch the new ones and they are bent! Any ideas on how to flatten?

Start on a piece of paneling on concrete. then use ever taller pieces of blocking to increase the amount od correction till it works. Jim

Assuming you have a decently heavy tractor lay the bumper on two blocks somewhere under the rear end of the tractor. Jack down on the bumper with a hydraulic jack with the jack pushing up on the tractor. The blocks can be two 2X4's laid flat to just get the bumper off the ground a little bit so you have more clearance for the jack under the tractor.

Steel has memory, so you have to over bend it a little to make it go strait. Also why if you get a dent it's best to try and get it out as soon as possible so it doesn't set.
