Dawn solution in fly rope

Didn't want to hijack Glennsters post about Dawn and Japanese beetles but after reading all the comments I was wondering if Dawn solution would work on my fly rope rub for my cattle to control flies? Any of you guys ever try dawn for flies?

Won't help, using dish soap requires the bug to be wet with the solution. There's no residual affect.
I always used old oil cut with diesel, with some permethrin mixed in. But these days I've been applying Ultra Boss pour on. One dose and flies are gone within 20 minutes. Lasts a couple weeks unless we get a lot of rain.
