Man, that thing would really pull.
And would drink gas also.
Local AC dealer had a 55 on his lot and I tried to buy it.
It had just been sold to someone in GA for $900 who did not pay for it.
Dealer was in the GA mountains one day and saw it sitting on a used tractor lot.
He stopped and told the guy it was stolen and got it back.
I saw it and he had just sold it again for $300.
I was very unhappy that I missed it.
It was a great runner and was straight.
Wound up buying an LA Case and really worked that thing building my pond.

My dad had a new 444 diesel. He worked it hard, but at about age 50, he decided that air-conditioning and power steering was pretty nice, so he also bought a 4020, and let little brother drive the Massey until it was about 20 years old. Sometimes the Massey helped to pull the 4020 with the 5 bottom through heavy gumbo. He had two John Deere's thereafter.
