I have a 4010 JD gasser 1961--and a MM-M5 Diesel also a 61-I really like both tractors for what I use them for. The JD is a 6 cyl. and the MM-M5 is a 4 cyl.---the MM-M5 is a bigger cube engine. Both have power steering, 3 pt. live power.
Just my opinion----I think when they were new the MM-M5 was more tractor.
I didn't have them when new and it is just a guess. Chain them up in 1961 and who pulls who?????? len in michigan The MM-M5 is the last tractor my wife and I bough together. I would steal a few minutes to work on the tractor to try and keep my sanity...She left on 10-29-2018---almost 51 years. If you have a wife--Love Her everyday an don't take any day for granted..........

I agree 100% on the wife.
That old MM would have pulled the JD backwards all day.
And I am a JD man.

I got a neighbor Don, he started farming with a UB propane, when the New Generation JD came out, he wanted one real bad,i cant remember if it was a 3010 or a 3020, but he said too the UB had more power

I like Molines. Had a 423 cu. U back in the 60's. But we all know the 4010 was a light year ahead of a M 5 or a 670 super. 4010 power wet brakes. Synchronized trans. All hyd power steering that didn't creap. Closed center hyd. Which makes hyd functions almost as fast at idle as wide open. And the seat on a JD no comparison. What about the gear shift between your legs. 4010 flat floor. Rev a M5 up. It vibrates you like a old Harley. Its the reason John Deere is only one still here. Others are just a name.
