rewired the tractor and new lights side mount (no fender lights) and can only get one side of the lights to work. Followed the diagram in the Tech Manual. Can someone please provide any insight on what I might have done wrong. THANKS!

Which tech manual are you using? Do you know that the lights are "split" so some are on the +12 volt source and some are on -12 volt source? At least that's the way they are supposed to be unless that got wired wrong.

I assume you mean the electrical functions are separate? The switches are in one mechanical package though. Just their electrical functions are separate, I believe, although I've never seen the inside of those switches or measured how the paths align based on switch positions.

For both halves of the electric system to work the little ground wire from the midpoint of the batteries to the chassis has to be intact and actually grounded to the chassis (as-original the little ground wire goes to the battery box, and rust or point can isolate the battery box from the rest of the chassis).

If that checks out, move on to the combination switch, the "BATT A" terminal on the switch should read -12 Volts (nominal) with respect to a good chassis ground, and the "BATT B" terminal on the switch should read +12 Volts (nominal) with respect to a good chassis ground.

Checking BETWEEN the "BATT A" and "BATT B" terminals on the switch should yield 24 Volts (nominal).

The little ground wire at the batteries is marked as "F" in the diagram.

Where is the connection between the batteries and the tractor chassis ?
As previously stated. Half the lights and instruments are 12+ to chassis and the other half of lights and instruments are 12- to chassis.
The voltage regulator has to float on rubber mounts electrically isolated from the chassis.

dandeere,

Excellent point. OP didn't say if LEDs were used, but that certainly could be his problem. Based on the fact that he said only one side works would mean the center point between the batteries is likely connected.
