What is growing there now, exactly? Clover, alfalfa, cool season grass, warm season grass, what?

Any weeds you are trying to get rid of, like thistle, which?

What do you intend to seed next?

How long between spraying and the time you plant?

Without knowing any of this it’s hard to say.

If the hay is grass only a shot of at least 32 oz/acre of
Glyphosate plus an adjuvant and some AMS will kill the grass. If you have alfalfa or clover with no grass 2/4d with an adjuvant will Kill it but you cant plant a broadleaf plant Like soybeans back for 7 days after spraying 2/4d. Alfalfa-grass mix will need both glypho and 2-4d. It would be best to talk to a local agronomist. He/she will know what works best for your area.
