New radiator leaks

I bought a after market radiator made in turkey for my 401B JD, with my flail mower. Now I have a leak. The shop I bought it from said just bring it in. It's easy to say, but they don't have to remove it. It's back to my old standby, my MF 231 with my 6 ft woods mower. Glad I finished all my larger fields. Always something. I worked with a guy when things were going bad he would say: Now is a good time to quit. Not there yet. Stan

Don't hear many good things about aftermarket radiators. Anything from bolt holes not lining up to leaks and cheap cores. I bought a new radiator for my Cub that worked out well. I don't know where it was made. There were two available with the higher priced one labeled as restoration quality and that was what I bought. There are a lot of bolts that hold a Cub radiator and they all lined up and no leaks. Couple of other radiators I needed I found good used ones. Both times they were pressure tested and a 30 day warranty by the salvage yard where I bought them.

For what I paid I thought the radiator was the better quality. The bolt holes did line up farley well. Stan

Got my mowing tractor buried in a swamp on Monday 45 minutes from home, spent 3 hours and 3 different neighbor's tractors trying to get it out then gave up for the day. Went back yesterday and worked for another 3 hours with some ideas, chaining 4x6's to the rear wheels, still no go. Then I notice a skytrak at a construction site up the road, got the contractor to come down and was able to use the hydraulic boom to work me out. Worst I have been stuck in a long time, fortunately nobody or thing was injured in this event!

Thanks. I started on it, second time around is always easier. Save your time for the 5020. I keep telling it someone is coming to rescue it. Stan

That is never good. Sounds like a real mess all right. I have been stuck real bad a couple times, but nothing like what you have gone through. Stan

A few years ago I bought one of those Chinese aluminum radiators from Summit Racing. Nicest radiator I've ever seen anywhere. Every weld looked like a stack of dimes. It's universal fit, so YMMV.

Well keep it happy until I get there tell it’s she’s going to go to a good home already got a plow rounded up for it

LOL Your lucky I bought and Case 831 that they had put a new radiator in. While going through it and fixing things I found out that the radiator was just sitting in the spot and not attached to anything except the hoses. I figured out they had put the side panels on backwards. So my dad and I took it out, He is 75 and Im 55 with a busted back. I always tape cardboard to the radiator fins when messing around the radiator. I took it to a shop that said they could fix it and I told them to pressure check it also. Picked it up two weeks later put the cardboard back on. Got it installed took the cardboard off filled it with antifreeze and you guessed it pin hole in one of the fins.
