weed id?

found these on the farm, along the edge of my timber. never seen them here before. some kind of thistle maybe? n central illinois.

It looks a little like Perennial Sow Thistle ! But the leaves would be more jagged!

i just found this patch and they are spreading. i have been fighting poison hemlock for the past 2 years and finally getting a handle on that, then this stuff shows up. at least its not palmer amaranth!

I guess you can count your blessing that way,but some Tordon 22 k, will knock it down, but chances are it will be back next year! The best thin i ever did is get some of those flea beetle or what ever they were, to control my Leafy Sperge!
