Driver's door lock (electric) doesn't work - passenger side does work. It just quit this week. I'll be troubleshooting it soon.

Just wondered if anyone else had this problem and what your repair was. I have the Truck Shop Manual with lots of good info in section 01-14

Don't know the year on yours, but on my older one, the automatic solenoid went out. Drilled the rivet, destroyed my hands getting to it and putting the new one in and then bolted it back in since I didn't have a massive sized rivet tool.

When only 1 door lock doesn’t work it is Usually the solenoid needs replacement. I’ve done several.

In my Manual it shows an actuator in the lower part of the door. I don't see a solenoid. Where is the solenoid located?

The schematic shows 12 volts direct from the fuse block to the door lock switches and through the switches to the door lock motors. no solenoid on the schematic.

Drivers door is opened a lot more than passengers side. Could be actuator/solenoid or wires at door hinge broken. I have seen both. Check for power at the plug when activating switch before drilling out the rivets.

I had lock problems with my Escape two years ago. IIRC it was the two back doors. It took some detective work to track the problems down. One was a solenoid but the other was a broken wire where the door hinges.
