Tarzan comes to the kingdom

Baled some hay today with the help of my grandsons Gage, Randell and Tarzan (Jordan). Lol. Don't know why when I looked back and saw him the first thought was Tarzan is working in the kingdom. Lol.

Hay was nice hay, but short, just not growing this year's . This is new seeding alfalfa planted last spring and the alfalfa is just not growing. The first I cut was the best and over knee high but had some weeds so I cut it early. Then this had the clover taking over. Hoping by cutting it the alfalfa will get a leg up. I'll post a video tomorrow.

Couple suggestions. Tell the guy with the hook that unless there is a corner coming up, leave the baler push the bale up on the wagon. That's a lot of work pulling bale up out of the chute. Also tell him to put his pant leg over the boots. Keeps the chaff from going down boot bothering you all day. One last thing. When your help is young, make those bales about a foot shorter. Just take a little more string but they can handle them so much better. Oh also, give them each a pair of gloves so the strings don't cut in so bad. I'm not trying to sound like a know-it-all. Just trying to make the job as easy as possible.

I'd go one better- tell the one with the boots to just wear tennis shoes next time- those boots get hot! I've got one set of grandkids who seem to wear rubber boots year round- can't figure out why. I hardly wear them even in winter, unless I'm doing a job that requires them.

I agree with others on smaller bales. Let one of the boys drive, you go back and stack about 50 and tell us what you think LoL

Just curious....What are those running pricewise these days?
I'm near Billings Mt and I will have some grass with a touch of alfalfa
small squares fairly soon, I hope, Good Lord willing and nice weather.
We got about .75 of rain over the last couple days. Hopefully can start cutting
Friday afternoon or sometime Saturday.

I sold some of those a week ago right off the field for $5 and had many buyers. Last winter and spring they sold for $8 and more.

OK< thanks. I was thinking $4 in the field, $5 if I have them stacked.
I try to make +/- 60 Lb. bales/.
By the way, I stack them with the tractor. Pile them as tight as I can
with the loader, 4-5 bales high. Don't believe in touching
them any more than I have to!!!

Watched the video- thanks for posting! My dad used to say, "One boy is one boy. Two boys is half a boy, and three boys is no boy at all" (too much horseplay). They're going about it in about the most difficult way possible, but also obvious that efficient production is not the priority. Looks like you had an enjoyable afternoon.
