I have a john deere 301a that the loader leaks a little. can i use Xtrme fluid 334 from rural king in that tractor or would cam 2 j20c be better? or do i need to use jd fluid

Any hyd fluid that meets or exceeds J20C spec's should be fine. Myself I choose to use JD Hy-Gard in my tractors. The small savings one saves by utilizing cheaper oils won't go very far on paying for a trans or hyd repair bill.

I would say, based on the documents below, which I attached links to, it appears to be a replacement for their 303 which has been banned from some markets. If you find and check the product data sheet (PDS) for it Martin doesn't list any equipment manufacturer specs it meets (like the old John Deere J14B [1974 issue], J20A [1978 issued], or current J20C [1089 issued]) It is written in PDS document that it is not for equipment manufactured after 1974.

A 301A was built 1974 to 1985 by the JD parts catalog. J20C is the current John Deere spec and recommend as superseding their earlier specs.

You can use anything you want, it is your tractor. You will get many opinions on oils and fluids.

I have used it for years in my 300B with no issues. With a Dubque Deere, the main concern is how the aftermarket oil works with your reverser and wet-brakes. If you add some odd-ball oil and that reverser shifts funny, or the brakes grab, get rid of it. Make little difference for the rest of the tractor.
