Tire repair needed

Was mowing on Saturday with my Oliver And had one of my stabilizer bar hitch point break off. The one on the tractor so the bar dropped down and caught the tire side wall taking a piece or rubber off. It only took a patch about three inches in diameter and it did not cut the cords. Now what should I do to repair this? Will that rubber tire paint do a good job on this?

Anything you can do on the tractor is purely cosmetic. Paint will make the area look shiny and dark, but still damaged, and will do nothing for the strength or durability of the tire.

The only true repair would be to take the tire off and have a hot vulcanized repair done to the area. That's where they dig it out to clean rubber, install new rubber, and "bake" it with heat to cure the rubber. Even then it won't be nearly as strong as the original tire. Onelonleyfarmer on youtube bought one of those vulcanizer systems a few years back and played with it. Had a repaired tire explode on him, a big tractor rear, and I can't say he's done a video with the system since.

Finding a place that does this kind of work anymore would be tough. Repaired tires carry a lot of liability, and not many places are willing to take the risk. Plus it's not a quick process. They're going to charge a pretty penny to cover the insurance bill.

I realize that I most likely would not have a repair to make the tire 100% again but I think I should do something to cover up the cords.

My friend had a brand new truck with big tires , he cut the sidewall and ripped some rubber off but didn't hurt the cords. I took his tire to the tire shop here in town, they sent it out and had it vulcanized. It was an excellent job, you could hardly see where it had been repaired. That tire was on his truck for four years when he sold the truck and it still looked like new. Vulcanizing is well worth the money to save a good tire !

I just glued a couple cleats that were coming loose on my tractor tire with urethane. That's what some of the guys on this web site said to use. We will see how well it works.
Could you fill the cut with it?
Urethane
