I just tested out my M after rebuilding the disc brakes. New discs, balls, and boots from YT. They all fit perfectly and I have stopping power. Should have done it years ago.

When I put the new parts in, the clearance was within limits, so no machining needed. The main problems were that the balls were pitted, so the actuation was hard, and the discs were glazed super slick, like glass.
