Clutch issues

I have a Allis Chalmers CA tractor. I have adjusted the clutch release to specs. There is a little play in the pin that hold the throw-out bearing yoke. I am not able to get the trans in gear. Is there any way to adjust, externally, for this wearing with out splitting the tractor?

Also, I am helping a friend with an Oliver 55 that has been sitting for over 25 years. We have the tractor running and have drained the crankcase and the transmission and the rear-end. However, am not able to find how to drain the hydraulic system. The tractor does have remotes. Do I dran through where the hoses connect to the housing?

On the CA, there should be about 1 inch of free play (a should be good number) between the pedal up position (foot off) and the beginning of the
contact with the fingers. If it will not shift, the issue may be that the friction disc is stuck to the flywheel, If you can get it to a open
location with nothing to run into, block the clutch pedal down, and Start it in gear (like 3rd) driving around usually gets them loose. Jim

On the Allis, how did this happen?

Was the tractor parked, and the clutch now won't release?

If so, it is probably stuck with rust. It can happen in a week or so under the right conditions. And if it's stuck, it's all or nothing, either stuck or free.

But if it has gotten this way with regular use, or it is dragging, difficult to get in gear, but once in gear it doesn't fully release, jumping when feathered, then something is wrong. Probably the pressure plate has failed.

Got lucky on a tractor with stuck clutch, after setting 7 years. Wired clutch down in full release position, started engine and let run at fast idle for 2 hrs. Heat broke it loose.
