Picked up 25 steel posts and a pair of plammers and a roll of number 9 splicing wire going to get fence fixed so we can turn cows out on grass hopefully get the tractor and sprayer moved out tomorrow after work . Hopefully the fence faired better this year than it did last .

Hay equipment parts are on clearance I didn’t pick up anymore today but I will eventually get another couple sets of sections and guards for my no.8 and my Hesston

Dang! What are those plammers made out of?

We used to call them fence pliers, and the hammer head part was sort
of an afterthought, a milled face sticking out on the side of the pliers.

Those are the plain old fence pliers I have those to but always wanted a pair of plammers I do most of my stretching with just a hammer so now I can carry just one tool instead of the hammers and pliers .

I would have tried cutting the No. 9 wire with those before I paid for them. I acquired a cheap pair of fencing pliers, and after the first day the handles bent together so they touch when closed. Guy I was doing the fencing for gave me a pair of Bomgaars pliers but haven't gave them a good workout yet.

It cut it easy with one hand . I hate those cheap fencing pliers the channel loc brand are pretty good The cheap ten and 14 dollars one aren’t worth bringing home I have another pair that cost about 35$ I keep in my saddle bags and they are pretty good but you still can’t stretch fence with them like you can a claw hammer so you are stuck carrying two tools when you’re fencing

For $65 if the handles on those bent together and I was the owner they would definitely be getting them back for a refund. I realize you commented the offending tool was a cheap one. All I can say is I am not familiar with those but they must be the cat’s meow for that price.

It’s good stuff went through two rolls last spring that’s how bad the fences were and 50 posts

Some of those cheap ones are complete junk some aren’t to bad and some. Are pretty decent just gotta look at em and if possible work em a couple times some are so stiff and won’t open enough to let you cut 12 gauge wire let alone 9 or double strand smooth or barb wire . These are made in the USA not sure if I’ll get to try em out until next weekend now

I've heard of those plammers but have never seen them. They would be handy instead of carrying a set of fencing pliers and a claw hammer. With the new "carpenter" style jeans the hammer loop is way to big and the hammer falls out and the pliers pouch is barely big enough to carry a pair of tweezers.

Those are a really nice set of plammers. Never seen them like that before.seen ones that are dual purpose but never quite that good before.

When the metal or plastic buckets are junk, I save the handles. THAT is my source of #9 wire.

Never owned a set of plammers. Just old fashioned fence pliers. Our stretcher does a good job though. Pulleys with 2 ropes, a large hook on one end then the fence grabber on the other. Does your state offer a no sales tax on farm items. In Ny. we are sales tax exempt in stores where we filled out the form as long as it can be considered farm related. Funny thing is anything labeled horse is usually not exempt. Guess horses here are considered more of a hobby for people with money than people like you who use them for cattle work !

You must have taller cattle back there. My brother put up miles of fence with 6 ft pots. Have fun. Stan

Yip we have tax exempt I can exempt horse and cattle stuff even dog feed but they won’t let me exempt fencing stuff which I can’t understand? My grandpa had one of those fence stretchers with the two pulleys and rope never used it I don’t know whatever become of it it either

Have to have em 7 feet tall by the time winter is over they’ll sink . Need to replace em all with wood posts and just use steel as a dancer every 6 or 8 wood posts but that’s not in the budget this year
